UPDATE 6/29/20: Due to current public health concerns, Milk & Honey is actively monitoring information regarding the spread of Covid-19. The safety and health of our community and staff is always our highest priority.
With this in mind, we are currently offering both telemedicine and in-person appointments, based on individual needs of the nursing parent and baby. Our goal is to continually facilitate the optimal growth and development of our babies, and to help our Moms maintain their milk supply during this stressful time, through the specialized breastfeeding and postpartum care that we provide. Breastfeeding and/or breastmilk feedings are even more important during this time. Using these platforms we also aim to offer emotional support to our families, as this could be an uncertain and anxious time for many people. We believe the decision to restructure the way we provide our services will allow us to meet these goals and continue to provide excellent quality of care, as always.
In order to offer our telemedicine appointments, Milk & Honey is set up to conduct HIPAA-compliant Zoom video calls with our clients (*if appropriate for their individual feeding concerns). We want to continue to make sure families who need help are still able to receive it.
These telemedicine Zoom appointments can be billed to in-network insurance companies, and we will provide out of pocket options to clients, as well.
If our providers and families determine that an in-person appointment is needed, we will continue to follow our stringent infection prevention protocols, which include but are not limited to:
Sanitizing each office between appointments
Limiting the number of providers and families in the office at one time
Frequently cleaning & sanitizing the office
Cleaning & sanitizing any toys or equipment being used
Following universal protocol for hand washing
Asking families to wait in their cars until it is time for their appointment
Limiting the appointments to only the nursing parent/s, baby, and one support person (no siblings or extra support people at this time)
Requiring both our providers and the families to wear masks during their time in our office
Milk & Honey also asks any families to notify us, and stay at home if scheduled for an in-person appointment, if they have a recent onset of:
Fever, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath
If someone in their family has had contact with anyone who is suspected to have or has tested positive for Covid-19
We are currently waiving the late cancellation fee
In order to further provide support to our community, we are also offering two free groups on Fridays - an in-person clinic and a virtual support group. Our in-person clinic is limited to only 5 nursing parent/s plus babies, and we require registration ahead of time to reserve a spot. Please call our office to register for the in-person clinic. Our virtual support group is held on our Instagram page through Instagram Live. Please visit our “calendar” page on our website for more information on these groups.
We will be in touch with our community as information becomes available, and make changes to these protocols if necessary.
Milk & Honey is here to continue to support the community during this time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with your questions or concerns. Thank you! Together we will make it through.
